Besides reliable and safe restaurant equipment from One Fat Frog Restaurant Equipment, you’re going to need lots of inspections and licenses to open your restaurant, bar, pizzeria, bakery, etc. That’s where the Florida Division of Hotels and Restaurants, a division of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, steps in.

The Division of Hotels and Restaurants (H&R) licenses, inspects and regulates public lodging and food service establishments in Florida under Chapter 509, Florida Statutes (FS). The division also licenses and regulates elevators, escalators and other vertical conveyance devices under Chapter 399, FS.

In 2011, the division operated its second full year of centralized public food service plan review in Tallahassee providing cost reductions and faster turnaround for its customers; conducted more than 167,000 public food service and lodging establishment inspections; cited 811,244 violations of sanitary standards in public food service and lodging establishments; completed over 98% of its statutorily required inspections; created a new license/plan review application to promote easier fee payment and faster review; achieved its highest rate of elevator compliance, 97%, in history; and continued to implement its enterprise-wide re-engineering project to improve future operating efficiencies and enhance inspection procedures. For more information about the division, see our annual reports.

Luckily, they’ve upgraded their license application process, enabling the majority of applications for food service and lodging establishments to be completed online. To apply online click here.
